Massage Therapist Salary Hawaii

Massage Therapist Salary in Hawaii

A massage therapist’s salary will differ greatly between locations and the employer mix there. To help your decisionmaking regarding a career as a therapist in Hawaii, we acquired a database of salary data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (Occupational Employment and Wages data) and have extracted state and local data specific to massage therapist salary.

Massage therapist salary and wage data is collected on both an hourly and annual basis and, since many therapists choose to work part time, we present both methods here.

Hawaii – Statewide

Statewide, a Hawaii massage therapist has an average hourly wage of $20.70. To provide some detail, let’s look at the middle fifty percent of earners. We eliminate the bottom and top 25% to focus on reasonable earning expectations. This shows us that a massage therapist’s hourly earnings in Hawaii range from $8.70 to $31.82 per hour.

As we said, we analyzed the data to filter for a Hawaii massage therapist’s annual salary too. Here we found an average of $43,050 per year. To add context here, we pulled out that middle fifty percent range again and found the annual salary range for a Hawaii massage therapist would be from $18,090 to $66,180 per year.

Statewide data doesn’t always say what you can expect where you live in that state, so we kept digging. The Bureau of Labor Statistics provides data by Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) as well as by state. An MSA is a high population density area beyond a single town but that is closely economically tied together. They provided massage therapist data for only one of these in Hawaii, the Honolulu region. In recognition that Hawaii is not just Honolulu, we were also able to extract data for what is referred to as the Hawaii / Maui / Kauai nonmetropolitan area. We provide explanatory data for both below.

Honolulu

A Honolulu, Hawaii massage therapist has an average hourly wage of $17.13. Significantly below the state average. The middle fifty percent of earners in Honolulu report a massage therapist’s hourly earnings ranges from $8.59 to $23.83 per hour. Filtered for Honolulu’s annual massage therapist’s salary we discovered an average of $35,630 per year with the middle fifty percent range spread from $17,870 to $49,580 per year.

Hawaii / Maui / Kauai

A Maui, Hawaii massage therapist has an average hourly wage of $25.76. Much above the state average. The middle fifty percent of hourly earners in Maui report a massage therapist’s wages range from $8.88 to $40.61 per hour. Filtered for Maui’s annual massage therapist’s salary we find $53,570 for the annual average with the mid 50% spread from $18,470 to $84,480 per year.
