Massage Therapist Training West Virginia

Massage Therapist Requirements in West Virginia

In order to become a licensed massage therapist in the State of West Virginia, you must:

  • Provide evidence of a passing score on either the MBLEx or NCTBMB exams
  • Complete a 500-hour massage therapist training course

After you complete your 500-hour training program, you then can fill out an application packet to become a therapist. You must mail in the application packet to the West Virginia Massage Therapy Licensure Board, along with a cashier’s check or money order for $350. The form can be found here.

Finally, your signature on the application must be notarized. This can result in a small fee. We suggest you contact your bank regarding their price for this service. Note that many credit unions provide this service for free to their members.

In addition, original transcripts from the massage therapy school where training was completed must be sent directly to the West Virginia Massage Therapy Licensure Board.

Following licensure, note that all massage therapists must complete at least 24 hours of continuing education every two years. The continuing education hours should include at least 3 hours of professional ethics. Failure to complete those hours may be grounds for revocation of a massage therapist license by the board.
